Jeida ostrowski

Marine Debris Technician I

Hometown: Āliamanu, Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi

Current Residence: Kalihi Valley, Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi

Jeida is grateful to have had some of her best memories with the ocean, being born and raised on Oʻahu. These experiences fostered her passion for aloha ʻāina and conservation, which led her to study Marine Biology at Hawaiʻi Pacific University. After graduation, she joined the Coral Reef Ecology lab at the Hawaiʻi Institute of Marine Biology, keeping tabs on (and eventually befriending) the corals and critters in Kāneʻohe Bay and Hanauma Bay. Most recently, she serves as a resource  management assistant for the NOAA Habitat Conservation Division in the Pacific. Her time consists primarily of aiming to advance a holistic conservation strategy for Lalo, an atoll in Papahānaumokuākea that provides essential habitats to abundant and biodiverse wildlife. Jeida is excited to help carry out PMDP's mission to steward, care for, and perpetuate the inspiring resources of Papahānaumokuākea, and use her passionate energy to pound out some marine debris.
