Born and raised in the mountains of Colorado, Eliza developed an early passion for environmental conservation. Following high school she had the opportunity to sail from the Caribbean to French Polynesia, where she saw the profound impacts of marine debris on marine life and local communities. This led her to pursue a marine biology degree at UH Mānoa, where she gained comprehensive experience in marine research, scientific diving, and how to fit a longboard in a 2-door toyota yaris. She spent a year traveling through Asia, which has furthered her commitment to understanding the intricate relationships between marine ecosystems and the communities that depend on them. Most recently she became a wilderness EMT with specific training for first aid in the backcountry. She is stoked for the opportunity to work with PMDP to help preserve the crucial Papahānaumokuākea ecosystem.
